Tammy Amodeo is Tony's sister. Married to Morley and mother to Nikolas. Tony described her to me, with a protective tone,  as gentle and sensitive. True words for sure. I arrived at their house last year, nervous, I was meeting a lot of family all at once. The evening began as a blur since my "radar" was in overdrive, but then Morley offered a prayer of thanks for the meal, and he thanked God for "new family." Certainly Tony and I are hard-pressed to recall a more gracious and welcome gift.

Since then she has ministered to me... her notes, emails, little gifts, arriving at moments when I certainly needed them. But it has been her words... sharing her thoughts about her son going to Bible College... her questions and inquiring after us... her availability to her brother... these have continued to be a source of encouragement. There are more moments not mentioned here, and moments unknown to me... of their hearts extended to us in all our newness in Canada. As I wrote in the journal entry (17 March 2006) their home exudes life and laughter. There is a richness and a texture to their honesty and  the depth of their hospitality.

This page would not be complete without the recipe for the cookies that Tony described to me when he first mentioned his sister to me. And as promised here is the recipe for "Specials."  Tony is not much for sweets, but he has a definite weakness for these cookies.
