Laurel Adams is yet another of Tony's sisters. She is married to Don
and is the mother of Lisa. Laurel is my Photoshop/ crafting buddy. But oh so
much more. When I first met Laurel and we stepped into her house, Tony's
children were in her arms and there was that laugher and chattering that
fills the air at a reunion. Yet, she still had her eyes and her smile on me
over the kids. There was such a welcoming and kindness in her face. When
calm arrived, she sat down to talk to me. Really talk to me... not
polite fillers, but questions and sharing designed to get to know someone.
Now her husband, Don, does not talk as quickly as she does. I was pretty
convinced that first night he did not like me. He was not talking much, well
not at all...he was not speaking. And then he turned and he asked me to tell
him about Florida as I knew it. It was as if I had known him all my life.
Don still doesn't talk much. He listens, and smiles at his wife
frequently with gentleness. He is a musician with lyrics that bring
tears to my eyes. Take a listen
here.
(and this is where I got the hankering to add recipes to our site.)
Laurel, like all good big sisters, reminds her brother to give her
hugs, dotes silly on her nieces and nephews, and calls when she
has a dream about someone. She looks after her family, gently and
persistently. You just have to love someone like that.
