Mary asked a few days ago for suggestions about Downs Syndrome Awareness Month… and while I do have an idea or two for her… I have my own task… I am going to try to do some layouts about the different aspects of Jenni’s life.
And as for the rest of you,…. one great way to recognize DS awareness month is to give to Buddy Walk (in the name of Caroline Aubrey)
As parents, don’t we all hope and pray for a strong work ethic in our children… God has more than answered that prayer in Jenni… at every single performance evaluation, (which BTW, were real, not exercises in formality, or done against different standards for Jenni, ) she was commended for her attention to her tasks, and her efficiency.
Over the years we have encountered our share of discrimination, (and I plan this month to do some writing about some of it) but during the time Jenni worked at Publix, I was wowed by their leadership and staff. Jenni made real friends there. She earned the respect of her supervisors and co-workers.
An aside… in reference to Katherine’s blog post this AM… I did not tell her to write about what she had learned… we had our little discussion, and she said, I cant think of anything to blog about, and I said,
“well you could write about your reflections and insights into our discussion, and then I said, smiling, just kidding.”
House is turning weirder than usual… hope you all are ready for a season of my complaining about him… i know, you are saying, just don’t watch the show, Beth… but, *sighs* if it were only that easy.
I am entered in the Stand Up and Scrap competition… and misread the rules for this past week, scrap something “sweet” in our life… so I quickly did the following layout before discovering we had to use three papers… so since my mistakes don’t need to remain anonymous (our entries in the contest are submitted by numbers) , I can share this one with you… from Melinda and Earl’s wedding… our little ringbearer, Nicholas….
I leave you with a scripture card…..

AND of course one last reminder to make it to Caroline’s Page and check out what Jenni wrote for Caroline… and of course, you could donate while there, and you could leave some sugar for Caroline.
postscript: Jenni keeps up with the doings of Caroline, and regularly prays for Caroline. The message we did for was designed with Jenni’s help, she chose the elements and where to put them. And those Bible verses…hmmm, well, Jenni is somewhat famous for her verses… it has been somewhat amazing how they have figured into people’s lives. Two weeks before a cyclone hit our family, on Christmas Day, Jenni had given everyone, carefully written verses on strips of paper that she had decorated… months later, looking back, we saw how God had spoken to each of us…
and it was just pointed out to me that the link on Jenni’s layout wasn’t working, so that is fixed… but i see the type is small nonetheless… so I will fix the “for-printing” version, but here is what the journaling says: on her last evaluation, Jenni’s supervisor said, if all our employees worked as efficiently & as diligently as Jenni, we would need 30% less employees. Jenni had the respect and regard of her supervisors and fellow employees.

Killing me. . . Ya’ll are killing me. Your family is so full of love, wonder, joy. . .and the list goes on. I’m bawling, typing, and running out the door–all at the same time.
So blown away I am. Give that Jenni a big, huge, wonderful hug & kiss–give her two–some from me and from Caroline.
. . .and yes, you’re right. . . “cousin” would have been appropriate, too. Oh well, I’m the mama. . .live with my decisions! ; )

Hey Beth! I love, love those layouts and really think scrapping the various area’s of Jenni’s life is such a wonderful idea. It also will be a special thing to keep for the years ahead assuming you’ll put them all in an album.. I also love that scripture card. I really need to be doing that.. It would help me so much. I took a major step of faith today and left a situation that was causing me a lot of grief. I know it was the right decision – the Lord was pushing me and I initially lacked the faith as I was worried about losing the income. So scripture cards would really help me actually. Going to think about making some for myself and put them on my blog! Hope you don’t mind
Lots of love, Di x
