she makes it like home

Once again, Katherine wrote first and better I think than I am about to… today is Emily’s birthday and I am celebrating… so are the rest of us, but I am especially, with my memories and my motherly perspective, but Katherine said so wonderfully…Emily makes it feel like home.. she is a person of connection…she seeks connection in her thoughts, she tries to bring connection between people…
Last night she and I had a fairly emotional talk… I asked her what her wishes were for the coming year, and she said… “that I would learn not to back-talk so much.” Now for the past two weeks she has been talking basically non-stop about a clothing wish-list, so this was a delightful surprise. And she associates herself as being part and parcel with a dreadful time period in our family’s life (not true, but we people think strange and false thoughts often)…and said she was sorry, and amidst many tears, Katherine and I told her that we would not trade one second of her in our life for anything. So she owns my heart today for lots of reasons…
She is growing up, she thinks these amazing God thoughts…. and she waited for Elias to be born with me, and we prayed together that night, she notices people in pain (disabled, homeless, a woman crying in the parking lot) when we are out and about, she has a mouth on her that you just want to nail shut at times, but she also has a wit that delights… she did a pullover on the bar at gymnastics last night, she talks about what no one else will talk about and we do more healing because of her, she cannot get enough history or geography knowledge, she cannot bear goodbyes (hid under a bed at Tammy’s house when Mary left for school/ slept with Melinda’s picture after she got married) and so much more….

and I did a verse card… this verse I thought of because the Lord has pulled us out of many tears, some rough patches…
