ok so a slight respite from all the downward reports… MAry made at my request pastina for dinner tonight. Sher also made oven baked chicken wings for the less food challenged in our family. I was watching foodnetwork.. Giada Delaurentis’s show. She had a first birthday party menu for her daughter, Jade… which really captivated me. It reminded me of some of her birthday events and that was really very pleasant. It also brought back memories of this deliciously simple soup Peggy used to make for me when i was sick. (she made it for other people when they were sick too, but i remember that steaming chicken broth clearing my sinuses, flooding my heart with a sense of being loved and looked after. She would start with a nice quality store-bought chicken broth and add really finely chopped carrots and that tiny abc pasta… i remember finely minced parsley sprinkled on top… and minced celery and super fine minced onion…. slightly soft… flavorful and as i wrote packed with love. So Giada made the same pasta with finely minced onion, carrot and tiny baby peas. The pasta sauce had cream cheese and mascarpone cheese (a secret passion.) Creamy, soft, delicately seasoned and yet packed with intense flavor. Giada also made another favorite of mine.. meatball subs sized downed to baby size, MEatball Sandies. This is not a remake of the keebler cookies, i think sandies is short for sammies aka sandwiches for babies. (and animal shaped sugar cookies another Peggy speciality.)
So i have had a couple of soy smoothies that KAtherine made for me I had high hopes for this meal. Too early. I am not ready, but the taste was amazing and filled me with memories of being loved by *frenny, Peggy and filled me with hope of more recovery.
*frenny, a short short endearment she and i had for each other back in the day, as in really good friend.

Frenny, sammy, sandie – so cute! I’m a big fan of nicknames…
And I love Food Network but often it leads to meals that are over-ambitious for my limited-time, limited-kitchen space lifestyle. You are making me hungry again…

Your posts always leave me hungry. . . for food, and for more Bethisms.
Love you, my friend. Waiting to hear what the tests showed on Friday.
God is faithful.
