Food Cravings from the Far Side of Radiation

I have been talking about this list for awhile, but today wrote it down, I scrapped it visually in my head, but to do it for real seems to be way tooooo energetic for me.
this picture makes me dream, makes me happy. Saft Sparkler drinks from Martha Stewart. Mix that syrup with club soda to make that beverage.
Homemade ice cream from that same MS issue.
Homemade burger on the grill… recently Tony began making burgers stuffed with cheese for the girls and they are loving it. The burgers smell so good.
Peaches: really really fragrant, and ripe, fresh; or canned, sliced
Mandarin oranges from the can: a favourite of my baby banana
Giant crispy juicy apple
Hot vanilla steamer: our recipe… hot milk, bit of sugar, dash of vanilla… frothed with our milk frother… sprinkle of nutmeg over it
Cold Vanilla Steamer… above minus the hot part
Frosty glass of cold hot chocolate… a creation of Emily’s
Water really cold water, I happen to love Thunder Bay Water… so from the tap or bottles whichever, just really cold
Frozen lemonade.. something Katherine makes for me… blenderize lemonade concentrate with water and lots of ice…
Pineapple, orange, mango and grapefruit kebabs generous chunks on wooden skewers over tub of ice
Milk flavoured with fruit… cold milk, blender, chunks of ice, fresh fruit of single kind (either strawberry, peaches, or raspberries) whirl… no sugar… just milk fruit ice and blender.
broiled grapefruit …. a memory of the fancy steakhouses my Dad took me to as a kid after Coconut Grove Playhouse theater matinees.
Milk floats… a creation of my Dad’s… he would have me make them for him and I learned to appreciate them in the process… icy cold milk flavored either with strawberry or chocolate syrup, scoop or two of vanilla ice cream and a splash of club soda.
Cold slightly sweet iced tea with a splash of lemon and lots of ice
Salad bar salad…. where you get to get different kids of lettuces, cucumber, bacon, croutons, cheese, sunflower seeds (you know what I am talking about)… and a tip from a friend from the past (Jeri Green) a stripe of bleu cheese dressing down the middle> surrounded by two splashes of ranch dressing. Jeri would take me to the Seasons Rest at the Falls’ Mall and we would get this… crusty roll alongside please. (Becky and Jenny W took me after her. I don’t remember what they ordered but i am sure Jenny brought her own food even there.)
Fresh ripe juicy tomato slices, fresh leaves of basil shredded, mozzarella balls, rustic vinaigrette salad
Two and a half more weeks of radiation left(ends May12th) last chemo is on May 25th. Dietician told me to expect radiation side effects to still be going on for perhaps as much as two months past end of radiation … but it does not have to be that way for me… and at least after May12th it wont be getting worse.
I plan to add to this list as we go on… there is another list of things i want to do when the fatigue ends but that is a forever list and involves a lifetime.

Your list is making me hungry – and thirsty! The drinks on this list are all so special. I love that your list has so many ties to family and memories. Definitely scrapworthy.

Fresh tomatoes with mozzarella – that’s a treat to enjoy in August, yes? Something to look forward to.

Got me to thinking too. I have a recipe for lemon ice cream. Its very simple, just lemon curd(bought or home made) and whipping cream. We just put the bowl from the ice cream maker in the freezer and I’m anxious to try it. I’ll bring you some when we get it made.
This list shoudn’t be making me hungry(I just had supper) but it sounds so good. I’d like to try the broiled grapefruit!
