Wow. Beth, I am without words. Your reliance on God in the midst of this is nothing short of inspirational. I am absolutely in awe of how you are responding to all of this. You are, of course, 100% right. God is sovereign. God is infallible. His plan, while inscrutable, is always, always perfect.
I am praying hard for all of you. Praying that the God who heals might choose to simply erase all of this, flabbergasting your doctors. Praying that the God who comforts will hold all of you close. Praying that the God of miracles will work one here. Praying that the God of all wisdom will reign it down upon those working with you. Praying that the God of possibilities will keep you positive, focused on the goal and praising Him.
You are an inspiration, Beth. I read what you write and I pray that God will make me more like you. Know that you (and your family) are being lifted up and brought before the Throne - even by people you'll never meet.

there is a country song by Lee Ann Womack... and one of the lines is "I hope you dance..." if you have not heard it, your post (and you, my friend of many years) reminds me of it. So I have to include the lyrics, because it is you. I know it is long,

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)
