Taste of India
Jesus, School May 2nd, 2008
Well it’s hard to believe that there is anything even worth blogging about today after the mass blogging that went on yesterday…but the show must go on.
Last night I volunteered at my school at the Taste of India Night (just one component of the week long celebration of diversity). I was a waitress…Mrs Jones said she needed Grade 11 servers to show those young kids how it’s done…haha…all the Grade 12’s were models in the fashion show where they showed off Indian clothing…yes, I have forgotten what they are called…I think tsari’s, or something. But basically, I just watched these tables waiting for them to drink some water so that I could refill it. Then, I passed out desserts to everyone, where I messed up a lot but it was humorous so no harm done.
I did get to experience some of the "fun" of being a tech person last night…the person in charge of the microphone set up had to go prepare for being a model, so he just handed it over to me with all its problems…so there I was running around trying to make this microphone work/look for a solution…and everyone else was just doing things around me, totally unaware that I had no clue what I was doing, but they had total faith in me…I was like "If you only knew…" I’m just glad that the one that we put faith in always knows what He is doing.

Close, darling: A sari or saree or shari is the traditional female garment[mostly Hindu women] in India. And when trying to fix the microphone, you MUST always tap it with your fingers to see if it works. It’s like Rule #1 in Microphone Technology!

and, sari is also the word acting coaches use when helping Canadians make the transition to the US acting market… as “sorry” is pronounces “sari” in the USA while in Canada it rhythms with “lorry” and “glory”
Sorry for making your mind so sore.
